Which simulator is more realistic?
DCS World has the higher realism ceiling, especially with its full-fidelity aircraft modules. These reproduce real cockpit layouts, start-up sequences, navigation equipment, sensors, weapon controls and aircraft-specific limitations in considerable depth.

Its systems are coherent and tactically useful, yet they do not require you to reproduce a real aircraft's manual line by line.

Which has better VR controls and performance?
VTOL VR has the better native VR interface, while DCS World provides more control flexibility and much richer visual detail. In VTOL VR, reaching for the canopy handle, arming a weapon or moving a cockpit display is part of the intended control system rather than an optional layer added to a conventional simulator.

No. VTOL VR is designed as a PC VR simulator and requires a compatible headset with tracked motion controllers for normal cockpit operation. The desktop image is a mirror or spectator view, not a complete non-VR mode.
Can you use a HOTAS in VTOL VR?
VTOL VR does not treat a conventional HOTAS as a native replacement for its motion-controlled stick, throttle and cockpit interaction. Hardware rudder pedals can be used, but buyers expecting to fly primarily through a physical stick and throttle should choose DCS World instead.

Its mission editor, scripting support and large aircraft catalogue allow far more specialised scenarios.
