If performance becomes consistent, use a wired connection where practical, stop competing downloads, check the simulator's data limits and recreate the rolling cache if that option is available. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 relies more heavily on streamed content, so connection stability can be more noticeable than in MSFS 2020.
Server congestion, latency and packet loss can matter even when a speed test reports ample bandwidth. Turning photogrammetry off replaces it with less detailed generic scenery, so treat that as a diagnostic step before making it permanent.
How can Xbox and PlayStation users reduce lag?
Console users have fewer graphics controls, so the most effective fixes are restarting the simulator cleanly, reducing traffic, testing streamed scenery and removing problematic add-ons.

- CPU: consider it when the simulator remains MainThread-limited with reduced Terrain LOD and traffic while the GPU has clear headroom. Extra cores alone do not guarantee better performance.
- GPU: consider it when lowering resolution or Render Scaling produces a strong improvement, but the resulting image quality is unacceptable.
- VRAM or system RAM: investigate an upgrade when monitoring shows memory exhaustion and paging during repeatable stutters. Adding RAM will not cure a normal CPU or GPU limit.
