Fix an X-Plane 11 parking brake stuck with FLYPFC controls by checking toe-brake axes, duplicate bindings, calibration and plug-in conflicts.
In X-Plane 11, a FLYPFC parking brake usually stays on because the hardware or plug-in is continuously sending a brake command, or a toe-brake axis is reversed and reads fully applied. Remove duplicate assignments, calibrate the brake axes, then test X-Plane’s keyboard brake commands with FLYPFC temporarily disconnected.
Is the parking brake stuck, or are the toe brakes applied?
The cockpit lever and the wheel brakes can tell different stories. Identify the symptom before changing any assignments.

How do I fix the FLYPFC parking brake?
- Run a clean keyboard test. Close X-Plane before disconnecting FLYPFC or any serial PFC hardware, restart the simulator and load a default aircraft on level ground. With unchanged default assignments,

Reconnect the controls, open X-Plane’s joystick settings and move every pedal and control through its full travel. A released toe-brake pedal must show no braking input; pressing it should produce a smooth increase.
- Calibrate and reverse only when necessary. Run calibration for the full pedal range. Enable axis reversal only if the on-screen indication shows full braking with the pedal physically released. Reversing an already correct axis creates the exact stuck-brake symptom.
- Remove duplicate assignments. Assign left and right toe brakes once each. Clear brake functions from unused axes and from any yoke, rudder or throttle axis that should not control them. This is also the usual fix when braking is triggered by moving another flight control.
- Inspect the parking-brake switch mapping. Do not assign the same physical lever through both FLYPFC and X-Plane’s native joystick settings. A momentary button suits a toggle command; a maintained two-position lever should use separate apply and release states if the plug-in exposes them.
- Test the plug-in separately. Temporarily disable FLYPFC through X-Plane’s plug-in controls and repeat the keyboard test. If that fixes the brake, remove duplicate plug-in copies and use the FLYPFC build intended for X-Plane 11 and the particular PFC connection type.
- Verify the active control profile. X-Plane can load different joystick assignments for different aircraft. Make sure the affected aircraft is not using an older profile containing a second brake axis or parking-brake binding.
If a brake axis still shows input while its pedal is released after calibration, reconnect the controls one unit at a time. A noisy potentiometer, unstable connection or another attached pedal set may be supplying the unwanted input.
Why does the parking brake release and then reapply?
A brake that snaps back on is normally receiving repeated commands from a maintained hardware switch. The cockpit control changes briefly, then the next FLYPFC update restores the physical switch state.
Use only one control path: either configure the switch through FLYPFC or assign it within X-Plane. If only a toggle command is available, bind it to a momentary button rather than a lever that remains electrically on.
What if the lever releases but the aircraft still will not move?
If the parking-brake handle is visibly released, inspect both toe-brake indicators before adding power. Even a partial reversed input can hold a light aircraft at idle, while full input will prevent movement entirely.
When both brake axes read zero, check for wheel chocks, an attached tug or aircraft-specific ground equipment.
