How do I install a free airport in MSFS 2024?
Most PC airport packages are extracted into the active MSFS 2024 Community folder, although packages supplied with an installer should follow their own instructions.
- Close Microsoft Flight Simulator: do not add or replace scenery while the simulator is loading packages.
- Extract the download: do not place the unopened ZIP, RAR or 7Z archive in the Community folder.
- Inspect the folder structure: the airport package normally has files such as
manifest.jsonandlayout.jsonnear its root. Remove unnecessary wrapper folders created during extraction. - Use the correct Community folder: MSFS 2024’s active package location can differ by installation type and selected storage path. Do not assume that an old MSFS 2020 folder is shared.

Marketplace catalogues and package availability can differ between platforms. A freeware airport available as a PC download should not be assumed to have an Xbox or PS5 edition.
