- Download one archive and scan it before extraction.
- Read the included instructions and confirm any required libraries or base aircraft.
- Find the package folder: typical aircraft, scenery and livery packages contain
manifest.jsonandlayout.json. Place the folder containing those files directly inside Community rather than leaving it double-nested. - Use the active Community folder for your MSFS 2024 installation. Can Xbox and PlayStation players install free mods?
Xbox Series X|S and PS5 or PS5 Pro players cannot install PC Community-folder archives. Free add-ons must be offered through Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s official in-game content system; copying a mod from a computer or USB device will not make it available on a console.
Availability therefore differs by platform. A freeware aircraft or scenery package listed for PC may have no console version, even when the simulator itself includes the same aircraft type or location.
