What are Infinite Flight grades and how do you advance?

Ian Stephens
In short

See all Infinite Flight grade requirements for landings, flight time, online hours, XP and violations, plus practical steps to advance safely.

Infinite Flight has five pilot grades. You advance automatically when your profile meets every requirement for the next grade: landings, total flight time, online time, XP and a low enough violation-to-landing ratio. Grade 1 is the starting level; Grades 2–5 use progressively higher thresholds.

Infinite Flight grade requirements

Infinite Flight’s pilot-grade thresholds are cumulative, so they do not have to be completed during one flight.

GradeLandingsTotal flight timeOnline timeXPMaximum violation ratio
Grade 1NoneNoneNoneNoneNone
Grade 251 hourNo minimumNo minimum40%
Grade 32510 hours5 hours50,00020%
Grade 410050 hours20 hours1,000,00010%
Grade 5500100 hours50 hours10,000,0005%

All columns must be satisfied at the same time. Infinite Flight’s in-app grade or profile screen remains the final authority if its developer changes a threshold.

How do you advance your Infinite Flight grade?

You advance by recording clean flights until every next-grade threshold has been met; there is no separate examination or promotion application.

  1. Check the next grade’s progress: Inspect landings, total time, online time, XP and violation ratio rather than concentrating on only one statistic.
  2. Reach Grade 2 with basic practice: Circuit work can supply the five landings, but the full hour of flight time is still required. Our first-flight setup and control walkthrough covers the fundamentals if take-offs, approaches or landings are holding you back.
  3. Build eligible online time: Grade 3 and above require multiplayer hours. Once Grade 2 opens the Training Server, use it to practise orderly departures, approaches and ATC compliance.
  4. Accumulate XP through normal flights: XP becomes a major restriction at Grades 4 and 5. Repeated circuits may satisfy the landing count while leaving XP, total time or online time far short.
  5. Finish and synchronise the flight: End the session normally and allow the logbook and account statistics to update. Promotion normally follows once the completed flight has been processed.

A mistake we see constantly is continuing to farm touchdowns when the actual shortfall is online time or XP. Pick the lowest progress bar and fly specifically to improve that statistic without collecting violations.

How is the violation-to-landing ratio calculated?

The violation-to-landing ratio is calculated as counted violations ÷ counted landings × 100. Two violations against 25 landings produce an 8% ratio, which is within the Grade 3 limit but not the Grade 5 limit.

Clean recorded landings reduce the ratio; another violation raises it and can cost grade or server eligibility. Watch the simulator’s warnings, observe speed restrictions and runway clearances, and follow controller instructions. Do not assume that deleting a local logbook entry will alter account statistics.

If the ratio sits exactly on a limit, aim below it rather than relying on a rounded display. One or more additional clean landings provides a safer margin.

Why has my grade not advanced?

A missing requirement or an unsynchronised statistic is usually the reason Infinite Flight has not promoted a pilot.

  • One category remains short: Meeting the landing and flight-time targets does not compensate for missing XP or online hours.
  • Solo time was mistaken for online time: Solo flights can build general experience, but the separate online requirement needs eligible multiplayer flying.
  • The latest flight has not been processed: Reopen the profile after the logbook has updated and the account has synchronised.
  • The displayed number is rounded: Fly slightly beyond time or XP thresholds instead of stopping at an apparent exact match.
  • The violation ratio is too high: The raw flight totals may qualify while the ratio still blocks promotion.

What do Infinite Flight grades unlock?

Pilot grades govern access to increasingly strict multiplayer servers rather than unlocking aircraft.

  • Grade 1: Casual Server eligibility for new pilots with multiplayer access.
  • Grade 2: Training Server eligibility.
  • Grade 3 and above: Expert Server eligibility, subject to account standing and server rules.
  • Grades 4 and 5: Higher experience grades; they do not represent additional dedicated servers.

Multiplayer also requires the appropriate Infinite Flight access or subscription. Pilot grade is separate from controller training and rank. Our practical overview of learning procedures and progressing into multiplayer explains where the grade system fits into the wider simulator.
