See every aircraft included in MSFS 2020 Standard, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe, including the free Game of the Year and 40th Anniversary additions.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 includes 37 aircraft in the updated Standard edition, 42 in Deluxe and 47 in Premium Deluxe. Deluxe contains everything in Standard; Premium Deluxe contains both lower-tier fleets. Those totals include the free Game of the Year and 40th Anniversary aircraft, but exclude Marketplace add-ons and optional promotional expansions.
How many aircraft does each MSFS 2020 edition include?
The three editions contain the same core fleet, with five additional aircraft at each paid tier.
| Edition | Total aircraft | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 37 | 20 original aircraft, five Game of the Year additions and 12 40th Anniversary additions |
| Deluxe | 42 | Everything in Standard plus five Deluxe aircraft |
| Premium Deluxe | 47 | Everything in Deluxe plus five Premium Deluxe aircraft |
These are entitlement totals. Some free anniversary packages may still need to be installed through Content Manager before their aircraft appear in the selector.

Which aircraft were added free after launch?
The Game of the Year and 40th Anniversary updates added 17 aircraft to every edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
Game of the Year aircraft
The Game of the Year update contributed these five aircraft:
- Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet
- Volocopter VoloCity
- Pilatus PC-6 Porter
- CubCrafters NX Cub
- Aviat Pitts Special S1S
40th Anniversary aircraft
The 40th Anniversary update added 12 aircraft spanning airliners, helicopters, gliders and historic machines:
- Airbus A310-300
- Bell 407
- Curtiss JN-4 Jenny
- de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver
- DG Flugzeugbau DG-1001E neo
- Douglas DC-3

- Hughes H-4 Hercules
- DG Flugzeugbau LS8-18

Are Darkstar, Pelican and Ornithopter included in these totals?
No. Aircraft distributed through optional free packages or licensed expansions—including Darkstar, the Pelican and the Ornithopter—sit outside the fixed edition totals. The optional A320neo V2 download is treated the same way.
Marketplace aircraft, third-party products, liveries and aircraft from our MSFS freeware add-on library also do not identify which edition somebody owns. Float, ski and other configurations can create additional selector entries without representing separate edition entitlements.
Which included aircraft should a beginner fly first?
The Cessna 152 is the simplest starting point for basic handling, while the G1000-equipped Cessna 172 is better for learning modern navigation.
- Basic training: Cessna 152 or Robin DR400-100 Cadet
- Glass-cockpit training: Cessna 172 Skyhawk (G1000) or Diamond DA40 NG
- Bush flying: Savage Cub, XCub or DHC-2 Beaver
- Fast touring: Daher TBM 930
- Airliner introduction: Airbus A320neo
For the trade-offs between these choices, use our role-by-role recommendations for choosing an MSFS 2020 aircraft.
Why is an included aircraft missing?
A missing aircraft is usually uninstalled content, an edition mismatch or an active filter—not proof that the aircraft has been removed.
- Confirm your edition. The steam-gauge Cessna 172 and Baron G58 require Deluxe or Premium Deluxe; the 787-10, Longitude, SR22, Virus and Shock Ultra require Premium Deluxe.
- Clear aircraft-selector filters. Search filters and category filters can hide an installed aircraft.
- Open Content Manager. In MSFS 2020, check
Profile > Content Manager, search for the aircraft or its associated package, and install any content marked as not installed. - Check the owning account. Run the simulator with the platform and Microsoft accounts that hold the correct edition entitlement.
- Finish simulator and content updates. Fully close and restart the simulator after installation; on Xbox, do not rely on a suspended session to refresh entitlements.
- Rule out add-on conflicts on PC. Temporarily start without Community-folder aircraft and modifications if the aircraft selector is blank, duplicated or unstable.
