What software do FSX panels actually need?
FSX panels need two working layers: Windows device support and a simulator integration layer. Windows may recognise the USB hardware while the displays remain blank or the switches do nothing because the FSX plug-in is missing.
The Radio, Multi and Switch Panels do not normally expose all their functions as ordinary assignments in FSX’s Controls screen. Logitech’s integration software reads the hardware and exchanges commands with FSX through the simulator connection. The Flight Instrument Panel also needs its display-related software.

SPAD.neXt is especially useful when an add-on cockpit uses custom systems rather than standard FSX controls. It is not automatically the better choice for a stock aircraft and default panel functions.
Can the Logitech plug-in and SPAD.neXt run together?
The Logitech integration plug-in and SPAD.neXt should not both control the same panel. Competing integrations can produce duplicated button presses, flickering displays, incorrect LEDs or a panel that appears to stop responding.
- Close FSX and both integration programs. Check the Windows notification area and background processes, because the Logitech component may start automatically.
- Choose one controller for each panel. Disable the other program’s FSX integration or automatic launch before testing.
- Retain required device components. Do not blindly remove every Logitech component when changing to SPAD.neXt; requirements can differ between the Radio, Multi, Switch and Flight Instrument Panels.
- Test one panel at a time. Use a default FSX aircraft with its battery and avionics switched on before adding aircraft-specific profiles.
Why is my Saitek panel still blank on Windows 11?
A blank panel usually indicates a driver, plug-in, simulator-connection or USB problem rather than a need for SPAD.neXt.
- Confirm Windows detects the hardware. If it repeatedly connects and disconnects, try a direct motherboard USB port or a properly powered hub.
- Check the FSX integration component. Installing only a yoke driver does not install the software required by separate flight panels.
- Verify the correct FSX edition. On systems containing both boxed FSX and FSX: Steam Edition, an installer can target the edition you are not launching.
- Start with a default aircraft. This separates a general installation fault from an add-on aircraft that uses non-standard events.
- Remove software conflicts. Stop the unused Logitech or SPAD.neXt integration, then restart the active one and FSX.
- Check USB power management. If the panel disappears after being idle, Windows may be suspending its USB hub. Change power-management settings only for the affected device or hub rather than disabling them system-wide.

Windows 11 does not make SPAD.neXt mandatory, but it can expose problems with old installers, USB power saving and mismatched permissions. Install the panel software from an administrator account, ensure its FSX integration targets the edition you use, and avoid running FSX and its panel software at different privilege levels.
If the official integration works with a default aircraft, there is no need to replace it. Move to SPAD.neXt only when you need its configuration features or the official plug-in cannot provide the aircraft-specific behaviour required.
