FSX Nick's SunFix

Nick’s SunFix refines the sun and corona in Microsoft Flight Simulator X with convincing volumetric-style rays and a balanced bloom response that stays true to scale. Lighting adapts dynamically to time of day, altitude, cloud cover, and atmospheric humidity, delivering a more natural, cinematic sky without overpowering glare.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This package will enhance the sun effects in FSX and add simulated volumetric light rays extending from the corona. It's designed to work with and without light bloom and be dynamic with the time of day, altitude, clouds and the level of atmospheric humidity content. The elements which light bloom enhance have been reworked so bloom is not overpowering and should display in proper scale. By Nick Needham.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per the readme

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

I have FSX Steam with Rex Skyforce 3D installed, so the sun textures in use are one of the twenty available in Skyforce. I downloaded your Sunfix, removed the textures and config. file from one of the Skyforce sun texture options, and replaced them with your Sunfix textures and config. file.

I cannot get anything like the effects shown in your screenshots - no extended sun rays coming out of the corona, the sun just appears the same as before. Are your screenshots from Prepar3D? As this can make use of DX11HD which FSX cannot.

Any thoughts and comments you have would be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Stewart Flett.
