To set up Saitek flight panels, install the driver or simulator plug-in required for each panel, connect the hardware to a powered USB port, launch the simulator, then test with a default aircraft whose battery and avionics are on. Configure add-on-aircraft profiles only after the basic panel works.
Saitek Pro Flight hardware is also sold under the Logitech G name. For general PC flight simulation, the crucial point is that Switch, Multi, Radio and Flight Instrument Panels are not ordinary joysticks: most depend on integration software and usually cannot be configured through axis calibration.
What software do Saitek flight panels need?
The required software depends on both the panel and the simulator; a Windows USB driver alone may detect the device without making it communicate with the aircraft.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 commonly need panel bridge software because many panel functions do not appear as normal entries in the simulator's Controls Options screen. Our MSFS 2024 driver, plug-in and USB setup sequence covers all four main panel types.
FSX and Prepar3D normally use compatible panel drivers and simulator integration, while X-Plane requires an appropriate panel plug-in. Match the software to the simulator generation and operating system; old packages left from another simulator can load alongside a newer bridge and cause duplicate inputs or blank displays.
How do I install and test the panels?
Install and test one panel at a time, using a simple default aircraft before introducing add-on aircraft, profiles or alternative mapping software.
- Identify each model. Check the label rather than assuming every Logitech/Saitek device uses the same package. The Flight Instrument Panel has different software requirements from the Radio, Multi and Switch Panels.
- Remove conflicting integration software. If an older panel utility launches automatically, disable or uninstall it before introducing a replacement. One active interface should control the panels.
- Install the correct driver and plug-in. Follow the package's connection order, because some installers expect the panel to remain unplugged until installation finishes. Restart Windows when requested.
- Connect one panel directly. Start with a rear motherboard USB port or a separately powered USB hub. Avoid an unpowered hub, monitor port or unpowered yoke hub during diagnosis.
- Confirm Windows detects it. Check Device Manager, but do not expect every panel to appear in the standard game-controller calibration window. A panel can be detected as a USB device without exposing joystick axes or buttons.
- Start the simulator and load a default aircraft. Switch on the battery, alternator or generators, avionics master and relevant radios. Radio and autopilot displays may remain dark until both the simulator connection and aircraft electrical system are active.
- Test every control. Verify switches, rotary knobs, transfer buttons, displays and annunciator lights. Add the remaining panels one by one so a USB power or software conflict is easy to isolate.
- Configure the intended aircraft. Only add profiles or custom-event mappings after the panel works with a default aircraft. Do not create duplicate simulator bindings unless the chosen integration software specifically requires them.
Why is my Saitek panel blank or not responding?
A blank Saitek panel usually points to missing integration software, an unpowered aircraft, insufficient USB power or two utilities competing for the same device.

If only the Radio Panel fails, follow the panel-specific bridge and COM/NAV checks rather than reinstalling every cockpit device.
Why do the panels work with default aircraft but not add-ons?
Complex add-on aircraft often use custom autopilot, electrical and radio events that the standard Saitek interface cannot recognise.
This is especially common with the Multi Panel: its display may illuminate while autopilot buttons do nothing, or the selected altitude changes without controlling the aircraft's flight guidance system. Choose an aircraft-specific profile or a mapper that supports the add-on's custom events, and avoid running it alongside the standard panel plug-in. Can Saitek flight panels be used on a console?
Saitek and Logitech Pro Flight panels should generally be treated as Windows PC hardware because their displays and controls depend on drivers or simulator bridge software.
A USB connector alone does not make a panel console-compatible. Although Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5/PS5 Pro, those consoles cannot install the Windows panel software. Use a panel on a console only when that exact hardware model is explicitly supported by both the console and simulator.
