Do I need the Saitek X52 manual, drivers or profile software?

Use drivers and programming software intended specifically for the X52 Pro. Do not assume a standard X52 profile is interchangeable, even if most physical controls look familiar. Logitech-branded versions follow the same rule: match the package to the exact model recognised by Windows.

Why is the X52 detected but not working in the simulator?

If the X52 works correctly in Windows but not in the simulator, the cause is usually the selected profile, disabled controller input or conflicting assignments.

  • No X52 appears in Windows: Reseat the stick-to-throttle cable, connect the throttle directly to another USB port and remove conflicting old driver packages before reinstalling the correct one.
  • The throttle lights up but the stick is dead: Disconnect USB, inspect the round cable for bent pins, then reconnect it firmly at both ends. Power or lighting does not prove that stick data is reaching the PC.
  • Windows input works but the simulator does not: Select the X52’s controller profile, confirm joystick input is enabled and check whether the active aircraft uses a separate profile.

Do these instructions apply to the Saitek ST90?

The Saitek ST90 is a different joystick and must not use an X52 driver or X52 controller profile.

Test the ST90 separately in joy.cpl, then assign only the axes and buttons Windows shows for that device. The same axis-first and duplicate-removal principles apply, but there is no X52 stick-to-throttle connection step.

Can the Saitek X52 be used on Xbox or PlayStation?

The X52 should be treated as Windows PC hardware unless both the console and the individual simulator explicitly list it as supported.

A USB plug alone does not provide console compatibility, and the Windows X52 driver or profile software cannot be installed on a console.
