  2. Run Calibrate if available. Open the controller's Settings or Calibration page and follow its wizard. Centre the spring-loaded stick and twist axis; place other controls at their midpoint only when the wizard requests a centred position.
  3. Sweep the full range. Move every reported axis slowly from one physical limit to the other several times. Return the stick and twist grip to centre before completing the process.
  4. Check the result. Each indicator should move smoothly, reach both ends and remain steady when untouched. Use Reset to default if calibration makes the readings worse.

Use the combined throttle axis when one X52 lever should operate all engines. Separate engine axes are only useful when your hardware provides separate levers or you deliberately want one engine controlled independently.

Start with the default response curve and no dead zone, then change only what the Windows test and aircraft response justify. There is no single correct percentage for every X52 because centre wear and potentiometer noise vary between individual units.

  • Dead zone: add the smallest amount that stops an untouched axis from drifting or flickering.
  • Sensitivity: reduce centre response if the aircraft feels too twitchy; this changes control feel, not hardware calibration.
  • Extremity dead zone: use it only when a sound, stable axis falls slightly short of full command.
  • Reactivity: leave it near its default unless you specifically need to slow rapid input changes.
