Train Sim World 2 includes three base routes. See their termini, trains, and the extra routes in Collector’s and Rush Hour Deluxe editions.
The standard edition of Train Sim World 2 includes three routes: London Underground’s Bakerloo Line, Schnellfahrstrecke Köln–Aachen in Germany, and CSX Sand Patch Grade in the United States. Named bundles can add routes, while Preserved Collection content from the original Train Sim World is not part of the base package.
Which three routes come with Train Sim World 2?
The standard Train Sim World 2 package supplies these three routes and their core rolling stock:
| Route | Principal extent | Included trains |
|---|---|---|
| Bakerloo Line | Elephant & Castle to Harrow & Wealdstone | London Underground 1972 Mark 2 Tube Stock |
| Schnellfahrstrecke Köln–Aachen | Köln Hbf to Aachen Hbf | DB BR 406 ICE 3M and DB BR 442 Talent 2 |
| Sand Patch Grade | Cumberland, Maryland to Rockwood, Pennsylvania | CSX AC4400CW, GP38-2 and SD40-2 |
This combination covers underground passenger work, German high-speed and regional operations, and heavy American freight. It does not include every route bearing Train Sim World branding; our guide to routes available across Train Sim World releases separates the broader add-on catalogue from edition-specific content.
Do other Train Sim World 2 editions include more routes?
Yes, the Collector’s and Rush Hour Deluxe editions add routes to the standard three-route package.
- Collector’s Edition: adds East Coastway, Peninsula Corridor and Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr.
- Rush Hour Deluxe Edition: adds Boston Sprinter, Nahverkehr Dresden and London Commuter.
A listing described simply as Train Sim World 2 normally means the standard package. When buying a boxed copy, activation key or bundle, check its named edition and included-content list; cover artwork alone is not a reliable guide. If the choice is about driving style rather than entitlement, our comparison of notable Train Sim World routes explains what the different route types offer.
Are older Train Sim World routes included automatically?
Older Train Sim World routes are not included automatically with Train Sim World 2.
The Preserved Collection allowed owners of compatible routes and locomotives from the earlier game to download their Train Sim World 2 versions. That access depended on an existing entitlement and the same supported platform or storefront ecosystem; it did not turn those add-ons into standard-edition content.
A common source of confusion is seeing several routes installed and assuming they all came with Train Sim World 2. Check the ownership record for each add-on: transferred, separately purchased and subscription-access routes should not be counted among the base three.
Does each included route contain every train and service?
An included route supplies its core trains and timetable, but compatible add-ons can introduce extra services, substitutions and AI traffic.
That is why two players can own the same route yet see different traffic. Our explanation of timetables, AI services and rolling-stock layers covers how those additions affect what appears on a route.
Does the New Journeys Expansion add another route?
The New Journeys Expansion does not add another route. It expands the original Bakerloo Line, Köln–Aachen and Sand Patch Grade content with additional trains, services and scenarios, so the underlying route count remains three.
