How do I turn off aircraft and airport labels in MSFS?

To hide labels in Microsoft Flight Simulator, open Settings or Options, turn Traffic Nameplates off for aircraft, then disable Airport Markers under navigation or visual assistance. Save the changes. These controls remove floating labels only; they do not disable AI traffic, multiplayer aircraft, airports or map data.

Turn off aircraft and airport labels in MSFS 2020

1. Open Options: Pause the flight, select Options, then open General Options.
2. Hide aircraft labels: Open the Traffic category and set Show Traffic Nameplates to Off.
3. Hide airport labels: Return to Assistance Options, open Navigation Aids and disable Airport Markers. You may need to expand the POI Markers group first.
4. Save the settings: Apply the changes and return to the flight.

Airport Markers are separate from city, landmark and fauna markers, so those other points of interest can remain enabled.

Searching by the setting name is more reliable than relying on a fixed menu path, because categories can move between simulator updates and platform layouts.

Why are some labels still showing?

A remaining label usually comes from a different overlay rather than the setting you just changed.

• Only multiplayer names remain: Look for a separate multiplayer nameplate or player-label control and disable it as well.
• City or landmark labels remain: These are individual POI marker categories, not Airport Markers.
• Mission or objective markers remain: Disable objective guidance separately in the assistance settings.
• A panel is drawing the information: Close the relevant panel; our guide to using and managing MSFS toolbar panels explains where those controls live.
• The labels returned after changing a preset: Assistance presets can overwrite individual marker choices. Select the preset first, then make these label settings your final changes.

How do I hide airport names on the World Map or EFB?

World Map and Electronic Flight Bag labels use their own map layers or filters. Open the map's layer or filter control and switch off airport symbols or labels there; changing Airport Markers only affects floating markers in the 3D flight view.

Hiding a marker does not remove the airport. If an airport still cannot be found after its map layer and markers are restored, follow our airport visibility and missing-airport checks.

Do label settings turn off aircraft traffic?

No. Traffic Nameplates controls identification text only. AI and multiplayer aircraft continue to operate until you disable their traffic sources separately, so this is the right setting when you want an uncluttered view without emptying the skies.
