Mahnomen County’s instrument provision is tightly focussed: two RNAV (GPS) approaches serve two runway ends, so coverage is not concentrated on a single end. The 3,400 ft asphalt runway is 680 ft longer than the turf runway; aircraft requiring pavement or more than 2,720 ft of runway therefore have only that longer alignment available, while neither runway exceeds 3,400 ft.
Among nearby fields, Detroit Lakes/Wething Field has slightly broader chart coverage, while Fosston Municipal/Anderson Field matches Mahnomen County. Fertile Municipal and Hawley Municipal have somewhat thinner sets, and Norman County Ada/Twin Valley has the smallest. The Twin Cities sectional adds wider VFR orientation and visual-reference context beyond the airport’s narrowly defined terminal procedures.
