Bowman Field has a compact instrument set: one RNAV (GPS) approach and one VOR approach provide two navigation methods, but no airport diagram is published. The two-runway layout offers different alignments, while Runway 17/35 provides nearly 2,000 ft more available length than 04/22 and is therefore the field’s principal option where runway length is the determining constraint.
Nearby procedure coverage varies sharply. Helena Regional has the broadest set, while Bert Mooney and Ruby Valley Field also have appreciably more charts than Bowman. Deer Lodge-City-County and Lincoln have similarly thin coverage. The Great Falls sectional adds the regional VFR context absent from the instrument procedures, including Bowman’s relationship to surrounding airfields and charted visual features.

3 current FAA charts for Bowman Fld, including 2 instrument approachs. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.
CTAF 122.8. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.
Bowman Fld has 2 runways. The longest is 17/35 at 6,010 ft by 75 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.
No ILS is published. In total 3U3 has 2 published instrument approaches, of which 1 are RNAV (GPS).
The field elevation is 5,034 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.
No — Bowman Fld has no control tower. Traffic co-ordinates on a common frequency rather than with a controller, which is listed in the frequencies table on this page.
