Every runway end at Valley Intl has a published approach, so the chart set has no directional gap. Its mixture of ILS, RNAV (GPS), VOR and localiser procedures also provides broader method coverage than a single-system set. The runway layout combines two parallel north–south strips with 13/31, while the 9,400 ft runway offers substantially more available length than the other two.
Nearby procedure coverage is much thinner. Mc Allen Intl and Brownsville/South Padre Island Intl have the broadest neighbouring sets, while Cameron County, Mid Valley and South Texas Intl at Edinburg each have only four charts. The Brownsville sectional adds wider VFR context, and the US Gulf Coast Helicopter Route Chart supplies helicopter-route information absent from the terminal procedures.
