Instrument coverage at Hunt Field

Hunt Field’s procedure set is notably narrow: its sole instrument approach is RNAV (GPS) and serves only one end of runway 04/22. Instrument arrivals are therefore charted for one direction only. The single 5,000 ft runway also provides no alternative alignment, while no airport diagram is published.

Wider chart context

Central Wyoming Regional has the broadest chart coverage among the nearby fields, with twice as many published procedures as either Ralph Wenz Field or Hot Springs County. Those two fields have coverage much closer to Hunt Field’s limited set. The Cheyenne and Salt Lake City sectionals add broader VFR context around Lander that the instrument procedures do not show.

Common questions about KLND

What charts are available for KLND?

3 current FAA charts for Hunt Fld, including 1 instrument approach. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KLND?

CTAF 122.8. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KLND?

Hunt Fld has 1 runway. The longest is 04/22 at 5,000 ft by 75 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KLND have an ILS approach?

No ILS is published. In total KLND has 1 published instrument approach, of which 1 are RNAV (GPS).

Which runway do instrument approaches serve at KLND?

Every published approach serves one runway end. There is no instrument procedure to the reciprocal direction, so an arrival in instrument conditions commits to that single approach direction regardless of the wind.

How high is KLND?

The field elevation is 5,588 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.

Is KLND a towered airport?

No — Hunt Fld has no control tower. Traffic co-ordinates on a common frequency rather than with a controller, which is listed in the frequencies table on this page.

Are these KLND charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
