Go PROGreat Salt Lake anchors a sheet stretching from Nevada’s basin-and-range country across northern and central Utah into south-western Wyoming and western Colorado. Salt flats, desert basins and long isolated ridges dominate the west; farther east, the Wasatch and Uinta ranges lead into broader Rocky Mountain terrain. Southern Idaho also appears along the northern edge, adding open plains and mountain valleys to an unusually varied regional view.
Covering roughly 424 by 289 nautical miles, the chart can hold substantial cross-country routes before an adjoining sheet is needed. Klamath Falls continues west, Great Falls north, Cheyenne east and Las Vegas south. Seattle, Billings, Denver and San Francisco meet the four diagonal corners, useful where a route crosses the chart boundary obliquely rather than through a main edge.
An FAA Terminal Area Chart also covers part of this region. It provides a larger-scale treatment of the principal terminal area, while the sectional preserves the wider geographical context needed for routes spanning the Great Basin, Utah’s mountain corridors and the western Rockies.
