China Lake has seven instrument approach procedures, yet they serve only two of the six runway ends. The coverage is therefore concentrated rather than spread across the three runway alignments. Two RNAV (GPS) procedures and a helicopter approach are included, while the chart set is weighted more towards arrivals than published departure options.
Even the shortest runway exceeds 9,000 ft, with the longest reaching 11,199 ft, giving the field substantial runway length across three alignments. The airport diagram is particularly useful for interpreting that layout. Edwards AFB has comparably broad chart coverage, with Mojave also relatively close in scope; Inyokern and California City have much thinner sets. The Las Vegas and Los Angeles sectionals add broader VFR context beyond the terminal procedures.
