Go PROLos Angeles sits near the centre of a sheet stretching from Monterey Bay and California’s southern Central Valley to northern Baja California and the lower Colorado River. It brings together the Pacific coast, offshore islands, the Los Angeles Basin, rugged Coast, Transverse and Peninsular ranges, and the broad Mojave and Colorado desert landscapes. The result is a varied setting for simulated routes, with dense coastal development giving way quickly to mountain corridors, arid interior basins and long desert crossings.
Routes continuing north-west along California move onto the San Francisco sectional. The Las Vegas sheet follows to the north-east, while Phoenix continues coverage eastward beyond the Colorado River. This arrangement makes the Los Angeles sheet useful for planning substantial regional flights as well as shorter coastal or inland sectors.
The FAA also provides Terminal Area and Helicopter Route charts for parts of the same area. Those products serve more specialised, local purposes and use a different scale; this sectional supplies the broader regional context around them.
