Go PROFrom the eastern Sierra and Death Valley across Las Vegas and southern Nevada to Utah’s Colorado Plateau, this sheet spans some of the most varied arid terrain in the western United States. The Mojave Desert gives way northwards to the Great Basin’s repeated pattern of broad valleys and isolated mountain ranges, while the eastern portion reaches into rugged plateau and canyon country.
Routes continuing west pass onto the San Francisco chart, or the Los Angeles chart towards the south-west. Phoenix adjoins to the south-east, Denver to the east and Salt Lake City to the north, with Klamath Falls meeting the north-western side. These joins matter particularly for longer crossings of Nevada and Utah, where a route can leave the Las Vegas sheet well before reaching its destination.
The overlapping Terminal Area Chart provides a larger-scale treatment of the Las Vegas terminal area. This sectional retains the wider regional setting, making it the more useful companion for routes extending across the surrounding deserts, basins and mountain chains.
