Five of Louisville Muhammad Ali International’s six runway ends have published approaches, leaving one end without instrument approach coverage. The mix is notably deep: ILS and RNAV (GPS) procedures are supplemented by localiser options, while two ILS procedures include CAT II/III minima. Fourteen departure and ten arrival charts also show that the procedure set extends well beyond the approaches themselves.
The parallel 17/35 runways and differently aligned 11/29 provide two runway orientations. A 4,636 ft difference between the longest and shortest runways means the three cannot be treated as dimensionally interchangeable. Among nearby fields, Bowman Field and Clark Regional have the broadest chart sets, though both are much thinner than SDF’s; Samuels Field has the sparsest coverage. The Cincinnati and St Louis sectionals add wider visual context beyond the terminal procedures.
