Woensdrecht Airport traces its roots back to military and training operations, and it still sees activity from various aviation services. This airfield, situated near the Belgian border, is known for aircraft maintenance and pilot instruction, making it a unique hub for both military and civil services. The updated AFCAD presented here accounts for multiple taxiway alignments, accurate runway dimensions, and more realistic parking allocations, which can enhance immersion for users focused on this region of the Netherlands.

Refined Layout and Technical Highlights

  • Accurate Ground Network: The upgrade features taxiway adjustments and runway pathways grounded in up-to-date aerial imaging.
  • Parking Configuration: Revised parking positions ensure a closer match to on-site facilities used by training squadrons and maintenance operators.
  • AI Traffic Compatibility: The layout accommodates AI flight plans by enabling more realistic traffic flows and parking allocations.
  • Native FSX Format: Designed for Flight Simulator X, it has not been tested with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 or other simulators.

Steps for a Smooth Installation

  1. Copy the two .bgl files into the FSX/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder.
  2. Ensure your Addon Scenery directory is active in the simulator’s scenery library.

Removal Procedures

  1. Locate and remove the same .bgl files from the FSX/Addon Scenery/Scenery folder to restore your previous settings.

Tested under FSX SP1, this scenery enhancement may also function correctly with FSX SP2. If any unforeseen issues arise, consider reaching out so the author can look into additional adjustments. Enjoy your virtual flights in southern Holland, and experience smooth navigation through a more faithfully recreated Woensdrecht Airport environment, courtesy of Joost de Wit.
