This download introduces a custom repaint representing a classic Boeing 737-400 wearing the identifiable Virgin Express livery, originally operated under registration OO-VEK. Developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, this add-on focuses on AI traffic integration and maintains excellent performance through multiple levels of detail (LOD). AI Aardvark prepared the original model, and the repaint was meticulously crafted by Davy Rodriguez. Please note that the base AI Aardvark model is not included and must be obtained separately from the Fly Away Simulation library.
Expert-Level Aircraft Depiction
The Boeing 737-400 is widely known for its short-to-medium range capabilities and has served in various airline fleets across the globe. Virgin Express, a former Belgian low-cost carrier, was recognized for employing 737 variants on a range of European routes. With this repaint, enthusiasts can re-create the airline’s presence and traffic patterns within the simulator, bringing a more authentic feel to congested virtual skies.
Refined Visuals for Smooth Performance
- Multi-LOD Construction: Leveraging five distinct levels of detail, the model optimizes frame rates whether the aircraft is near or far in the virtual environment.
- Functional Surface Animations: Features such as gear deployment, flap movements, spoilers, and antenna placements are rendered to maintain realism throughout all phases of flight.
- Reflections and Highlights: Specular highlights on the exterior add a subtle shine during changing light conditions, boosting the dynamic look of the livery.
Airline and Model Specifics
- Boeing 737-400 Familiarity
- Retains the narrow-body layout renowned for efficient operations on mid-range routes. It continues to be a favorite for AI traffic due to its balanced combination of size and performance.
- Virgin Express Registration OO-VEK
- Reflects a real-world Belgian low-cost carrier setup, ideal for replicating European traffic density in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
- AI Aardvark Expertise
- Renowned for creating high-detail, frame-rate-friendly AI models that can occupy busy skies while preserving simulation performance.
