FSX / P3D mission

FSX Taking The Kids To School Mission

Taking the Kids to School is a story-driven FSX mission that puts a skilled de Havilland Twin Otter pilot on a morning run from Chefornak to Nunapichuk near Bethel, blending Alaska bush atmosphere with clear runway, radio, altitude, and speed guidance. It starts ramp-side at 10 a.m. and encourages disciplined checklist flying with precious passengers aboard.

You are Marilyn Whirlwind, a fat Eskimo woman from Chefornak in a region now called Alaska where your people have lived for thousands of years. You are also a kick ass Dehavilland Twin Otter pilot! Sometimes you are asked to take the kids to school in Nunapichuk (quite near Bethel the big city). This is one of those mornings. By Pierre G. Shlimon.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D mission
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place mission files

Missions go into FSX\Missions\ as a sub-folder. The folder must contain an XML file describing the mission.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    Hi(!),

So maybe firstly, as the maybe once one-time author of this mission, maybe just with some many thanks for trying it, only maybe apologies too for any issues, and for my documentation, maybe in retrospect, being quite unclear at the time.

And in terms of the missing flight plan file, I can only apologise and hope that this is an issue from me not testing my mission on another machine at the time, and that it might still work as intended, if this file is not loaded? And I guess, if one did want or need a mission file, it could maybe be made in Fsx separately, and as long as later on it was placed in the folder that my mission is looking for with the file name too, it might eventually work in the mission?

And maybe again (sorry!), in terms of where to fly to, I am hoping that, with the compass and captions on, and with some mention of the destination and cruise altitude in my (admittedly very mysterious sorry!) documents in the zip download, it might hopefully still be possible to complete this mission? Only I'm now just not sure if the free aircraft download that I was asking for in the setup documentation is still on that internet webpage...

But anyway, hopefully with just some apologies again for my comment here being maybe 10 years late(!), but hopefully just hoping that it wasn't too bad, and hopefully with just another quick many thanks again for now from here (hopefully just for now from here again thanks!),

I downloaded the mission, and I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly.

However, when I start the mission it says:

The flight you are trying to open is missing an associated flight plan file.

I downloaded the mission and i'm pretty sure I installed it correctly however when I start the mission it says "The flight you are trying to open is missing an associated flight plan file. The flight will be loaded without a flight plan. C:UsersMr. A. G. ShlimonyDocumentsFlight Simulator X FilesT
