FSX Ghost Airports Collection - Pennsylvania Scenery

Pennsylvania’s “ghost” airfields return as a 46-airport scenery pack for FSX, rebuilding long-lost strips now replaced by malls, parks, campuses, and housing while keeping each site recognizable from historic layouts. Update 5 adds Clarion Rhea Airport, expands refuelling spots, refines roads and terrain, and reconfigures select fields for smoother VFR exploring.

Update 5 presents Clarion, PA Rhea Airport. This update also places refuelling spots at most airports. It improves scenery and road structure and reconfigures a couple of airports. Update 5 brings the airport count to 46 (48 if you count Waynesboro and the closed Stultz airport). By Richard O. Finley.

The Ghost Airport Collection is a collection of forty-six Pennsylvania airports for FSX that used to exist but now are gone or virtually gone. These airports are now malls or shopping centers, industrial complexes, housing developments, parks, schools/universities, farm land, etc, etc. In some cases the airport is still recognisable but unused or partially used for another purpose.

All the airports in this collection fit that criteria. Many airports that comprise this collection came from a March 1940 Cleveland sectional chart I inherited from my father. There are airports that existed in 1940 and still exist as an airport in one form or another today. Those airports still in existence are not a ghost airport.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
