Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Texas, USA. Fort Worth Alliance Airport was constructed as the world's first purely industrial airport. It is located 14 miles north of Ft. Worth, TX and in close proximity to DFW International Airport. The airport is home to American Airlines Maintenance Base, Bell-Helicopter, FedEx Southwest Hub, and more. Scenery was designed for FSX Acceleration and features custom 3d buildings and models. By Brandon Thetford.

Ft. Worth Alliance Airport opened in 1989 and was billed as the world's first purely industrial airport. It is located around 14 miles North of the central business district of Ft. Worth and is also nearly the same distance from the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (KDFW). The airport serves general aviation, corporate jet, cargo, and military air traffic on a daily basis and it's proximity to the Texas Motor Speedway (only a few miles) brings extra dense traffic on race weekends. The airport is home to the American Airlines 777 and 767 maintenance base, FedEx Southwest Regional Sort Hub, Bell-Helicopter Training Center, DEA Air Operations Center and DynCorp International. Sadly the American Airlines maintenance base is set to close at the end of 2012 but is being kept alive in FSX!

This is my first major airport project for FSX and has been in progress since 2010. The airport is my first to incorporate custom 3d models and buildings that were created in Google Sketchup. The textures for the buildings were made using photographs that I took from the public areas of the airport. I was not afforded any access to the operations side of the airport to create this scenery. For this reason the buildings may not be 100% accurate however I doubt many will notice...I am very happy with how they turned out. How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    Hello! I love this addition, I just wish it was available for MSFS 2020. KAFW is my home airport and there have been a few building additions to the airport and runway extensions that I would like the be in my simulator. I did a flight today and had to taxi through the grass to get to the end of the runway. Much appreciated it if this could be brought to 2020.
