FS2004 Lockheed L188 Electra Update

Lockheed L-188 Electra refresh brings corrected landing gear, refined flight dynamics, and a cleaner, reworked panel layout for smoother classic turboprop operations in FS2004. The update reorganizes gauges, improves forward visibility, adds trim indication, and streamlines the GPS and radio stack visuals while keeping the original aircraft feel intact.

This is an update of the Lockheed L188 Electra by Mike Stone. I have put in all the wheels, updated the flight dynamics, and re-arranged the panel.

Unzip to a folder of your choice. After backing up your air, aircraft.cfg, and panel.cfg files, replace them with the ones in this update. The gauge goes to the main FS2004 gauge folder; no need to overwrite, if it is already there.

The only speed I found was for a cruise speed of 348 knots. So I set the aircraft up to cruise at this speed at 22,000 ft. and 75% power. This gave a top level speed of about 370 knots, over the ground speed; which is 420 mph. I used a different panel while getting this done, so to get the results with the default panel, set the torque to 65%, second line of gauges from the top. This turns out to be slightly over 85% on the rpm gages, next line down. Since 70% rpm is the no throttle rpm, this is not as high as it seems.

I took out the need for the bit maps for the GPS and the radio stack, added a trim gauge; and rearanged some of the panel because of putting in a different autopilot. If you like the way the panel looks with the new panel.cfg, you can delete the background pictures for the GPS and radio, but don't have to, for everything to work. It is also a slight bit easier to see over the nose. If you don't like the way the panel looks with the new panel.cfg, replace it with the one you backed up. That is why you shouldn't delete the pictures, unless you like the updated panel better.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FS2004 add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per readme

    FS2004 add-ons go into FS9\Aircraft\, FS9\Addon Scenery\, FS9\Gauges\, or FS9\Effects\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
