Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This repaint provides a realistic Northwest Airlines Douglas DC-10-30 livery (registration N226NW, new colors) meticulously crafted for use with the Commercial Level Simulations payware DC-10-30 package. Created by Bonnie Windsor, it integrates finely tuned fuselage textures and accurate markings. While specifically configured for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, the add-on does not include the original payware model, which must be obtained separately.

Showcase of the Tri-Jet

The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 remains well-known among long-haul aviation enthusiasts for its three-engine configuration, which once provided airlines like Northwest with formidable transcontinental and intercontinental range. This repaint preserves those design traits by reflecting the correct font for fuselage lettering, a detailed tail logo alignment, and lifelike wing shading. Enthusiasts flying this rendition can appreciate the faithful recreation of the real-world N226NW.

Repaint Installation Procedure

  • Extract the folder named NWA N225NW OC NORTHWEST and place it inside the “CLS_DC10_30” directory located in your “SimObjects/Airplanes” path within your simulator’s root folder.
  • From any existing Texture folder associated with the CLS_DC10_30, copy all BMP files that relate to cockpit elements and other aircraft textures into the new Texture.NWA N226NW NC NORTHWEST folder—do not overwrite any files already present in the newly extracted folder.
  • This step ensures that unpainted components (like the virtual cockpit) will display properly while retaining the authenticity of the repaint.
