This repaint adds a detailed Trans World Airlines (TWA) Douglas DC-2 “NC13711” texture set to the payware Douglas DC-2 developed by the Uiver Team X. It faithfully replicates the iconic aircraft owned by the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Purchase of the original DC-2 is required separately, and revenue from that sale goes to support the Aviodrome aviation museum.

Historic Insights into the Douglas DC-2 and TWA

The Douglas DC-2 first took to the skies in the mid-1930s as a swift, twin-engine transport airplane. It preceded the more famous DC-3 yet quickly established its reputation for reliability and performance. Trans World Airlines (TWA) embraced the DC-2 for its expanding routes, providing passengers with what was considered a modern and efficient flight experience for that period. The real NC13711, depicted in these textures, now resides at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, reflecting both the pioneering spirit of TWA and the enduring legacy of Douglas Aircraft.

Key Attributes

  • Livery Authenticity: Created by Tim Scharnhop, this texture set captures the historical markings and paint style used on TWA’s original DC-2.
  • Visual Refinements: Meticulous detailing of rivets, panel lines, and subtle weathering enhances the immersive ambiance within Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX).
  • Heritage Support: Funds from the DC-2 package benefit the Aviodrome Dutch National Aviation Theme Park and Museum, preserving aviation history.
