Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Experience a meticulously rendered cargo tri-jet designed to recreate ATA’s Douglas DC-10-30F in Flight Simulator X. Developed as a standalone freeware package, this release features the original model created by SGA along with a precise repaint by Lee Marrow, delivering a faithful representation of ATA’s N701TZ registration.

Overview of the Aircraft and Airline

The Douglas DC-10 family is recognized for its three-engine layout, which helps maintain balanced thrust and distinctive aerodynamics. In a freighter configuration, it allows for a high payload while preserving fuel efficiency. ATA (often known as American Trans Air) utilized this variant for freight operations, relying on the DC-10’s cargo volume and long-haul range to support the airline’s logistical demands. The registration N701TZ highlights one of the specific airframes that served in ATA’s fleet.

Notable Technical Features

  • Tri-Engine Configuration: The centered tail engine helps balance overall performance, while the symmetrical wing-mounted powerplants distribute thrust and enhance handling.
  • Cargo-Focused Design: The DC-10-30F includes enlarged access points for efficient loading and unloading, ensuring minimal turnaround time for freight operations.
  • Authentic Dynamics: This model incorporates weight, thrust, and aerodynamic properties refined for FSX, providing an immersive simulation of a classic wide-body in cargo service.

Included Content

SGA’s base model is packaged to offer a cohesive visual and flight model, reflecting accurate structural proportions and flight deck configurations. Repaint specialist Lee Marrow has contributed ATA’s livery, mirroring real-world markings and color schemes. Collectively, these elements form a complete freeware release that is ready for installation in Flight Simulator X without requiring additional dependencies. The attention to detail includes external lighting placements, engine cowl shapes, and a panel layout consistent with DC-10 operations.
