Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

This freeware release adds a meticulously crafted Lusitaniair-inspired Airbus A318 repaint into Microsoft Flight Simulator X. It is designed for enthusiasts seeking an authentic short-haul aircraft option while showcasing attractive Portuguese branding. With this repaint, simmers can explore European airspace using a smaller, efficient jet. However, it only includes the custom livery—users will need the base Project Airbus model by the Project Airbus team (available in the Fly Away Simulation file library).

Notable Features of the Lusitaniair A318 Repaint

This repaint includes detailed exterior markings for the Airbus A318-111 (fitted with CFM engines) displaying Lusitaniair’s fictional corporate identity. Project Airbus provides the core airframe model, which is recognized for its accurately shaped fuselage, well-defined wing profile, and carefully balanced flight dynamics. A repaint by Joao Paulino integrates high-resolution texture designs, ensuring surface reflections replicate real-world Airbus paint schemes. In the sim environment, these elements bring out the streamlined profile characteristic of the Airbus A318.

Short-Haul Aircraft Insights

The Airbus A318 is the smallest member of the A320 family, engineered for efficiency and versatility on short to medium routes. Comparable to other narrow-body jets, it provides a focused passenger capacity while maintaining the cockpit commonality that pilots appreciate. This version allows you to simulate typical regional hops and city-pair flights around European hubs, reflecting the operational profile of airlines looking for flexibility and reduced runway requirements.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
