Hidden Lake/Table Rock
Hidden Lake/Table Rock. Hidden Lake is a fictional airport located on a real …
Table Mountain receives a sharper, more authentic profile over Cape Town with an upgraded terrain mesh that enhances VFR navigation and landmark spotting from multiple approach angles. Built for Microsoft Flight Simulator X, the scenery blends cleanly with existing regional enhancements and requires default mesh settings or comparable terrain configuration.
This freeware upgrade refines the iconic shape of Table Mountain in Cape Town, delivering a striking topographical representation that enhances visual flight operations. Created by developer Domonique Dantu, it refines the default mesh and allows pilots to immerse themselves in the distinctive geography of South Africa’s well-known landmark.

This mesh incorporates enhanced elevations specifically designed for Table Mountain. It introduces a more authentic slope and a detailed outline, which is especially beneficial for VFR (Visual Flight Rules) journeys. The higher terrain resolution helps flight-sim users appreciate the dramatic rise of the mountain while navigating over Cape Town’s coastal region.
When flying at lower altitudes, the modified landform provides a clear sightline of Table Mountain from various approach paths. This refined realism aids in situational awareness, especially for general aviation pilots who rely on visual cues.
The scenery fits smoothly with other freeware and payware expansions. Many users choose to combine this Table Mountain mesh with additional regional enhancements to further upgrade the visibility of landmarks around the Cape Town area. The approach toward the city’s airport benefits significantly from this seamless integration, creating an immersive environment.
All mesh improvements and texturing refinements were developed by Domonique Dantu, who has focused on maximizing the flight simulation experience by highlighting the famous African landscape. These modifications expand the realism and visual integrity of Cape Town’s most recognizable natural feature.

Really frustrating. Can't figure out how to install this file in Flight Simulator X Steam Edition.
Having been a fan of the flight simulation games for many years, I was delighted when I came across the huge array of additions that you can include to FSX. As time has passed the series has degraded in visual quality, but this mountain scenery pack is great for modernizing the graphics and making the Table Mountain in Cape Town look better than ever. The graphics have been significantly improved and I also noticed a considerable improvement to the overall area, making it run smoother and look better at the same time.
As somebody who does not really know what they are doing when it comes to installing mods or additions for games, I found the installation really easy to follow too which was a big plus. Within a few clicks I had everything installed and was flying around South Africa enjoying the whole new look and feel to the area as a whole. I was wondering when I downloaded the package just how much it would actually make a difference but I have to say I’m hugely impressed by the change. If you fly to a nearby part of the country that isn’t updated by the mod, you will see a pretty big difference in the quality of the textures and of the detail in the surrounding areas.
If you want to make sure that your game looks a fair bit better than it does, even on the highest graphics settings, then this scenery pack would come highly recommended. It’s not taxing on your machine in the slightest as some have warned me in the past about mods like this, and if anything I felt that it actually performed a little bit better than it did in the past! If you regularly fly around South Africa then this is a no-brainer as the Table Mountain is a fantastic part to fly over.
The massive improvement in the shape, style and textures of the entire area is absolutely brilliant – I was really impressed, and just wonder how the original game doesn’t look as good as this in the first place? It’s great to be able to fly over some of my favorite parts of the world in the simulator and actually be able to recognize what it’s supposed to represent down below. The attention to detail is excellent, as somebody who has visited the Table Mountain in person I can certainly see what they were going for!
It’s a grand representation of what I love most about South Africa and I’d recommend it to anybody who is from the area or just wants to improve their own flying experiences over South Africa. A great addition to any flight simulation fans FSX package especially if you pride yourself on realism and getting the most authentic experience possible from the game.
