The BD5 design is challenging to fly. This package provides easy tweaks for the "Jez G" BD-5 to make it friendlier and more versatile. Includes info guide and ready-to-use air config files. These tweaks can be used for most FSX aircraft. With the permission of Jez G this package includes the complete aircraft installation files. By Rick Federmann.

The original design for the BD-5 was penned in the late 60's by Jim Bede. This was then made into a home build kit available to anyone for the asking price of around $3000 including a 70hp engine. Later the jet "J" version came along powered by a TRS-18 microturbo jet engine. In 1983 the BD-5J became famous due to its appearance in the James Bond film 'Octopussy' which was flown by 'Corkey'Fornof.

Over 5000 kits were produced and shipped to builders, sadly only around 150 remain flying but in recent years it has been certified as a cruise missile substitute for training and radar testing. The BD5 is not permitted to fly in the United Kingdom though.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
