Zenith STOL CH 701 delivers a lively two-seat bush aircraft built for short-field grass strips, with fixed gear, high-mounted wings, and confident slow-speed handling in Prepar3D v4/v5 and FSX. Flight Simulator X Prepar3D v4, v5, v6

A fully-featured Zenith 701 model and livery pack developed specifically for Prepar3D 4.5+ (including P3Dv5) but may also work in FSX (with no guarantees).

The Zenith mod displayed in P3Dv5.​The Zenith 702 is a twin-seat high-performance STOL aircraft with fixed landing gear and high mounted wings. It's a fun bush-flight aircraft that loves grass stips and very small GA aviation airfields. It's a true country-aircraft.

The pack includes the aircraft model, a fully functional 3D VC cockpit (virtual cockpit), and a custom sound pack plus four 4K liveries with full PBR shader support.

Liveries/Repaints Included

  • Jug
    Owned and operated by Deane Philip in New Zealand, the first CH-701 to install a Viking 130HP engine that is based on a Honda engine. This model represents JUG before the installation of the Viking engine in 2017 and still has the Rotax 912 and operated out of NZRT Rangiora Airfield in North Canterbury New Zealand.
  • Ol Glory
    A patriotic livery designed for John Burley by Kevin Miller that will be applied to his aircraft, N4209W soon.
  • Red Star
    A fictitious livery designed by Kevin Miller to demonstrate the PBR texture's representation of bare aluminum.
  • Seven O Fun
    The legendary Seven O Fun, built and flown by John Marzulli in Seattle Washington. Operated out of Arlington Airport (KAWO) in North Washington State.
  • Factory Demo
    The Zenith factory demo aircraft. This aircraft has flown and gave birth to many budding aviation fanatics to not only become full pilots but also build their own aircraft. Operated from the Zenith Aircraft factory at Mexico Memorial Airport in Mexico, Missouri.

NOTE on Performance Issues (LOW RESOLUTION TEXTURE SETS​) Folder

This is the 'LOW RESOLUTION GRAPHICS' for low range computers that might be having issues running the high-resolution 4K graphics. To install these lower-def textures, simply select all the texture folders in this folder and paste them into the main 'LHC_Zenith_701' aircraft folder. Allow it to overwrite the files. Done... Start your sim and check out the higher performance.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D add-on

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place files per the readme

    Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

Up to today, 11/12/22, it does not work in FSX with Windows 7 in a mid-range gaming rig, and with the Acceleration package. I have tried many things to make it show up since the plane is invisible and squirrely. Please, take it off the FSX category if it doesn't work! Disclaimer: Great for full-screen flying with sim instruments on a big monitor or TV! If it does work on FSX, tell us the clue on how to make it work, at least. Thanks.

    Ok, issue resolved.

    It seems Zenith 701 must be installed in the root folder of the sim, although it is not the recommended place for P3Dv4+ add-ons installation. My add-ons are installed in a separate, dedicated folder. For some reason Zenith 701 does not work from there.

    It looks and works reasonably well. Kudos to its creator.

    I downloaded the current version today and loaded it into P3Dv4, but the aircraft is not showing on the sim list. No errors related to Zenith 701 are showing.

    The panel requires these gauges, which are not available in the download:

    • cessna (part of P3Dv4)
    • LHC_Q2

    Perhaps the current download is just an update?

    Up to today August 2022, it does not work with FSX! At least the VC. But it's great to get the full screen with sound effects if you have the hardware to have a simulated cockpit!

    Does not work in P3D V5 latest version either, it crashes the sim, hoping for an update as it seems like a wonderful plane :)
