FSX Baldoon Scenery

Baldoon Airfield (UK09) scenery brings new life to this historic Scottish site in Microsoft Flight Simulator X with a refined single-runway layout and added buildings that restore a lived-in feel. Inspired by the field’s WWII-era role and surviving perimeter structures, it enhances local VFR flying with clearer airfield definition and atmosphere.

Scenery Baldoon (UK09). This airfield has been recreated with just one runway because within FSX the airfield is rather barren, so a few buildings were added to try and make it alive again. By Gordon Barnes.

Originally built in connection with target towing on the Burrow Head ranges. At the start of WWII the area was obstructed against enemy landings, but in 1941, the airfield was activated. As there were no hard runways, the landing ground became unusable because of flooding. Two concrete runways were built during 1942, but by 1945 all flying training had ceased and the airfield was transferred to Maintainance Command. The airfield is till used by light aircarft today and many hangar bases can be found around the perimeter. The control tower still stands, but in 1983 it was planned to bulldoze them to provide hardcore for a new harbour project in the nearby town. D J Smith 1983.

The control tower (NX 43316 53268) had still not been demolished when the site was visited in March 2004. Several other buildings were also noted, including a gas decontamination centre (NX 43333 52923) and, to the W of the demolished railway bridge, a squash rackets court still retaining its roof(NX 42243 52945). Also noteworthy are fourteen extant air-raid shelters ranged throughout the site.

I have re-created this airfield just with one runway because within FSX the airfield is rather barren, so i added a few buildings and tried to make it alive again.

Just place the two files:

Into your FSX addon scenery folder.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
Place scenery in Addon Scenery

Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.
Activate in Scenery Library

In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

Use these coordinates to fly directly to this location once the mod is installed.
