Honolulu International Airport is the primary airport for the City of Honolulu and the State of Hawaii. Originally opened in 1927 as John Rodgers Airport, the airport has a long history. Located next to Pearl Harbour, its airfield was taken over by the military after the Japanese attack in December 1941, and later returned to the territory of Hawaii in 1946. Today, Honolulu International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the US.
