Install and manage MSFS 2024 add-ons on Xbox using Marketplace and My Library, control streamed content, and fix missing or disabled purchases.
On Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 add-ons must come through the in-simulator Marketplace. Buy or claim an Xbox-compatible item, open My Library, then enable, stream or download it using the action offered. External ZIP files, USB packages and PC Community-folder mods cannot be installed on Xbox.
Install an add-on from the MSFS 2024 Marketplace
- Sign in with the correct account. Use the Microsoft/Xbox account that owns the simulator and will own the add-on licence.
- Open Marketplace. Access the in-simulator Marketplace from the main interface rather than searching for downloadable files through the Xbox browser.
- Check the product listing. Confirm that the add-on supports Xbox and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Also check whether it requires a particular aircraft, simulator edition or other package.
- Select Buy, Get or the equivalent ownership option. Complete any purchase using the account from the first step. Do not buy the same product again if it already appears as owned.
- Open My Library. Find the add-on under your owned content and enable it if an Enable control is shown. Select Download when a local-install option is available; otherwise MSFS 2024 will stream the package as required.
- Reload the simulator when requested. Aircraft, airports and other packages may not appear properly until the current session has been restarted.

How do I manage installed Xbox add-ons?
Use My Library inside Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to manage individual add-ons; the Xbox system-level Manage game and add-ons screen is mainly for the simulator and its reserved data.
The exact labels can vary by package and simulator build, but the main controls work as follows:

Streaming is normal in MSFS 2024. An enabled package does not always occupy the same amount of permanent storage as a conventional Xbox game add-on, and its first load can take longer on a slow connection.

Do MSFS 2020 Marketplace purchases carry over?
Eligible MSFS 2020 Marketplace purchases can appear in the MSFS 2024 library when you use the same Microsoft account, but compatibility is not automatic for every product.
- The publisher must support the package in MSFS 2024.
- The product must be available on Xbox rather than PC only.
- A livery or expansion may still require its original base aircraft.
- Content tied to a higher simulator edition remains dependent on that edition.
- A revised 2024 version may have different entitlement or upgrade terms set by its publisher.
If an older purchase is marked Owned but cannot be enabled, check its compatibility and dependencies before treating it as a failed installation.
Why is my Xbox add-on missing or not working?
Most missing add-ons are caused by an account mismatch, a disabled package, an unmet dependency or a stale library session rather than a lost purchase.
- Confirm the account. Verify that the active Xbox profile is the one that bought or claimed the content.
- Reset the library filters. Show all owned content rather than only downloaded, enabled or aircraft-specific items.
- Check compatibility and dependencies. A livery will not appear without its base aircraft, while a 2020 package may still be awaiting MSFS 2024 support.
- Install available updates. Update both the simulator and the affected package where an update control is shown.
- Quit MSFS 2024 completely. Do not rely on Quick Resume when testing a new entitlement or package state; relaunching forces a fresh library check.
- Disable recent add-ons one at a time. Start with another version of the same airport, aircraft modification or scenery package.
- Check free storage. A local download can fail even though streamed content still works.
- Remove and restore the package. Reinstall the individual add-on if that option exists. Reinstalling the entire simulator should be the last step.
Do not delete Xbox reserved space merely to restore a missing licence. That can remove cached data and force large downloads without fixing an account or Marketplace entitlement problem. Do Xbox add-ons work offline?
Only content stored locally can avoid being fetched from the cloud, and not every add-on offers a local-download control. Even with downloaded packages, MSFS 2024 relies heavily on online services for streamed world data and other features, so installing an add-on locally does not make the complete simulator offline-capable.
