No. In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, an aircraft control profile belongs to the selected physical input device, not to the entire cockpit setup. A joystick profile does not save throttle, pedal, keyboard or gamepad bindings. Create or select a matching profile separately for every peripheral used with that aircraft.
How do MSFS 2024 aircraft control profiles work?
Profile associations can be aircraft-specific, but their contents remain device-specific. If you create a profile called C172 while the joystick is selected, it contains that joystick's axes and buttons only.
Selecting the throttle, pedals or another controller exposes a separate set of profiles. Giving each one the same name can make the setup easier to recognise, but it does not combine them into one cockpit-wide package.
Commands categorised as general controls may also be held separately from aircraft controls. This is why an aircraft profile can appear correct while a camera, menu or interface binding still comes from another active profile.
How do I save a complete aircraft setup?
To save a complete setup, work through every connected device while the intended aircraft is selected.
- Connect every peripheral before opening the control settings so the simulator can display each device.
- Select the joystick or yoke, then create or duplicate an editable aircraft profile. If a supplied preset is protected, do not try to overwrite it.
- Assign and confirm its controls, including axes, buttons and any device-specific commands.
- Select the throttle, pedals and other devices one at a time, creating or choosing the appropriate profile for each.
- Check the active profile names before flying. Changing aircraft can cause MSFS 2024 to load a different aircraft-profile association for one or more devices.

Why did only some of my controls come back?
Missing controls usually mean the correct profile is active on one device but not on the others. A mistake we see constantly is configuring the yoke, switching aircraft and assuming the throttle and pedals followed it automatically.
- Wrong device selected: the binding was edited under the joystick when the intended button belongs to the throttle.
- Wrong profile active: one peripheral has reverted to its default preset or another aircraft profile.
- Wrong control category: the command was saved as a general control rather than within the aircraft controls being inspected.
- Device not detected: if the simulator presents reconnected hardware as a different device, its former profile may exist but will not be active on the new device entry.
Do not immediately overwrite a working preset when controls disappear. First select each hardware entry and verify its active profile.
Are sensitivity and dead zones saved separately too?
Axis tuning belongs to the selected device and active profile rather than one universal peripheral setup. Adjusting the joystick response does not tune the throttle or rudder pedals; configure each through the relevant device profile using our MSFS 2024 sensitivity and dead-zone guidance.
Does resetting one profile clear every controller?
Resetting or deleting the selected device profile does not normally reset profiles belonging to other peripherals. Confirm both the device and profile name before clearing anything, especially when several presets have similar names. Should I reuse profiles across aircraft?
Reuse a profile when aircraft share the same control layout; create aircraft-specific profiles when their axes, detents or button requirements differ. A common general-aviation profile may suit several simple piston aircraft, while airliners, helicopters and aircraft with reverse-thrust or specialised controls usually benefit from dedicated profiles.
Whichever approach you choose, repeat it for every physical peripheral. There is no single MSFS 2024 aircraft profile that automatically captures the whole joystick, throttle, pedal, keyboard and gamepad setup.
