No. Prepar3D cannot be installed or played natively on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. Lockheed Martin provides Prepar3D for compatible Windows PCs, with no Xbox edition. An Xbox controller can control Prepar3D on PC, but the simulator, its licence system and its add-ons still run on Windows.
Why can’t Prepar3D run on Xbox?
Prepar3D cannot run on Xbox because an Xbox console does not install ordinary Windows desktop applications. Although Xbox and PC share some Microsoft technologies, console software must be built, licensed and distributed specifically for Xbox.
Prepar3D relies on Windows installers, activation components, graphics and controller drivers, configuration files, scenery libraries, add-on packages and interfaces used by third-party utilities. Xbox cannot execute that software or reproduce Prepar3D’s normal add-on structure.
Copying the Prepar3D folder to an external drive will not work. Console development features do not turn an Xbox into a standard Windows PC, and buying a Prepar3D licence does not provide an Xbox download, Play Anywhere entitlement or cross-save support.
What should Xbox players use instead of Prepar3D?
On Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the closest full civilian flight-simulation alternative. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is also available for Series consoles, but neither product is an Xbox version of Prepar3D.

Xbox One cannot install Prepar3D. The native console releases of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 target Xbox Series X|S; any access offered to Xbox One through cloud gaming is streaming rather than a local installation and depends on service availability.

Remember that Xbox peripheral support is narrower than Windows support: a USB yoke, throttle or panel that works with P3D on PC is not automatically compatible with Xbox.
Can you stream Prepar3D from a PC to Xbox?
Streaming or casting a PC display to an Xbox does not make Prepar3D an Xbox application. The Windows PC must still install, activate and render the simulator.
Xbox Remote Play normally streams console software to another supported device; it is not a way to install arbitrary Windows programs on the console. A screen-mirroring arrangement may show the PC’s output, but controller pass-through, audio, latency and USB flight hardware can be unreliable. For a yoke, pedals, panels or multiple displays, running Prepar3D directly on the PC is the practical choice.

Can you use an Xbox controller with Prepar3D on PC?
Yes. A Windows-compatible Xbox controller can be assigned to aircraft controls in the PC version of Prepar3D.
- Connect the controller to Windows using a supported wired or wireless connection, then confirm that Windows detects its buttons and axes.
- Select the gamepad in Prepar3D’s control settings rather than editing assignments for the keyboard or another joystick.
- Assign the essential controls, usually pitch, roll, rudder, throttle, brakes and view movement.
- Remove duplicate assignments and test the controls before flight. If an aircraft twitches, turns or changes power without input, another connected device probably has the same axis assigned.
Adjust sensitivity and null zones if the controls will not settle near the centre. Trigger behaviour can vary with the Windows driver and assignment method, so check rudder and brake inputs in a simple aircraft before loading a complex add-on. Controller compatibility means only that the gamepad works as a PC input device; it does not indicate Xbox console support.
Do Prepar3D add-ons work on Xbox?
No. Prepar3D add-ons are Windows packages and cannot be copied, converted or sideloaded into an Xbox flight simulator.
Even when the same aircraft or airport exists in Prepar3D and Microsoft Flight Simulator, each simulator needs its own supported edition. File formats, flight models, gauges, executable modules, scenery systems and licensing can differ.
Downloads in our Prepar3D freeware library for PC must also match the installed P3D generation. A package labelled for Prepar3D is not necessarily compatible with every version, and none of these PC files becomes Xbox-compatible when moved to console storage.
