Des Moines has instrument approaches serving all four ends of its two-runway layout. The mix is notably broad: ILS coverage includes CAT II/III minima on one procedure, alongside RNAV (GPS), VOR and localiser options. This means the chart set is not concentrated on one alignment or one form of guidance. With both runways almost exactly 9,000 ft long, choosing between the two alignments does not involve a meaningful loss of available runway length.
Ankeny Regional and Ames Municipal have the broadest nearby procedure sets, although each has fewer than half as many charts as Des Moines.
