Three of Ankeny Regional’s four runway ends have published approaches, leaving one end without an instrument procedure. The four approach charts combine three RNAV (GPS) procedures with ILS and localiser coverage. Its intersecting concrete runways also offer a clear length distinction: runway 18/36 provides 1,300 ft more pavement than 04/22, an important difference where available runway length is a planning constraint.
Des Moines International has substantially broader procedure coverage nearby, while Ames Municipal’s chart count matches Ankeny’s and Newton’s is similar. Boone and Perry have notably thinner sets. The Chicago and Omaha sectional charts add wider-area VFR context beyond the airport diagram and terminal procedures.
