Ashe County’s two instrument approaches both serve the same end of runway 10/28, leaving the reciprocal end without a published approach. The RNAV (GPS) and localiser procedures provide two forms of guidance for that single arrival direction. With only one 5,002 ft runway, there is no alternative runway alignment, and its length is a clear constraint when matching aircraft requirements to the field.
Wilkes County has slightly broader procedure coverage, while Virginia Highlands is comparable in total. Mountain Empire sits just below Ashe County, and Johnson County and Elkin Municipal have distinctly thinner chart sets. The Atlanta and Cincinnati sectionals add wider-area VFR context beyond the airport diagram and terminal procedures.
