La Grande/Union County’s two published approaches—one RNAV (GPS) and one NDB—serve a single runway end. Instrument arrival coverage is therefore concentrated in one direction, with the other three runway ends lacking a published approach. An obstacle departure procedure is included, but there is no published airport diagram.
Runway 12/30 provides 2,861 ft more length than 17/35, making the shorter cross-runway the more restrictive option where runway length is a factor. Baker City Municipal has the same number of published charts, while Joseph State has thinner coverage. Eastern Oregon Regional at Pendleton and Walla Walla Regional each have broader chart sets. The Great Falls and Seattle sectionals add visual-route and regional context not provided by the instrument procedures.
