Approach and runway coverage

Maxwell AFB’s instrument coverage is concentrated on two of its four runway ends. The mix of ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures provides both ground-based and satellite-based approach options, rather than duplicating a single procedure type. Runway 15/33 is substantially longer than 009/189; any operation needing more than 3,015 ft of runway is therefore confined to the longer alignment.

Local chart context

Montgomery Regional, five nautical miles south, has the broadest nearby procedure set, with more than twice Maxwell’s chart coverage. Prattville/Grouby Field is closer in scale, while Wetumpka Municipal and the two fields 31 nautical miles away have markedly thinner sets. The Atlanta Sectional adds the wider visual-navigation context absent from the airport diagram and terminal procedures.
