Approach and runway coverage

Richmond International has published approaches to all four ends of its two runways. RNAV (GPS) forms the largest group, supported by ILS, VOR and localiser procedures, so the chart set does not rely on one approach type. One ILS includes CAT II/III minima. The 9,003 ft runway provides substantially more available length than the 6,607 ft cross-runway, while both alignments retain instrument approach coverage.

Wider chart context

None of the five nearby airports has comparably broad procedure coverage: each has only five or six charts, against Richmond’s much larger mix of approaches, departures and arrivals. The Washington Sectional adds the wider visual aviation context around Richmond that the airport-specific terminal procedures do not show.
