Waltrip Williamsburg Executive has a compact instrument set: one RNAV (GPS) approach and one VOR approach. This provides two distinct forms of approach guidance, but no depth of multiple procedures or approach types. The 3,204 ft runway makes available distance a defining constraint for aircraft using the field, while the separate 60 ft helipad provides a dedicated rotorcraft landing area.
Nearby procedure coverage divides clearly into two groups. Newport News/Williamsburg International and Langley AFB have much broader chart sets, while Camp Peary Landing Strip, Felker AAF and Middle Peninsula Regional are much closer to JGG’s limited coverage. The Washington Sectional adds the wider visual framework around Williamsburg that the airport’s small instrument collection does not provide.
