Approach and runway coverage

Russell Municipal’s three approaches serve two of its four runway ends, leaving the other pair without published instrument approach coverage. The combination of two RNAV (GPS) procedures and one VOR procedure gives both satellite-based and conventional options, with one served end necessarily having more than one approach. The 5,000 ft concrete runway provides over three times the length of the 1,602 ft turf strip, making the latter relevant only to aircraft able to use that much shorter distance.

Surrounding chart coverage

Hays Regional has by far the broadest nearby procedure set, while Great Bend Municipal is closer to Russell in coverage. Ellsworth Municipal, Rooks County Regional and Larned-Pawnee County each have slightly thinner sets. The Wichita Sectional adds the wider visual-reference context absent from the instrument procedures.
