Both ends of the two parallel 11,000 ft runways have published approaches, so instrument coverage is not confined to one direction or strip. The mix of ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures provides several forms of guidance, while the equal runway lengths avoid a shorter-runway constraint when changing between the parallel alignments. Ten arrival routes and seven departure procedures also make terminal routing a substantial part of the chart set.
Moffett Federal Airfield has the broadest nearby procedure set, although its 16 charts are still fewer than half San Jose’s 33. Reid-Hillview and Hayward have smaller collections, while Palo Alto and San Carlos are thinner again. The San Francisco Sectional supplies wider VFR context; the Terminal Area Chart adds more detailed visual coverage around the airport.
